The N-1 Starfighter, meticulously hand-carved from Orange Osage and Walnut with a cockpit made of a silvery resin. R2-D2 sits behind the cockpit made from Maple. From tip to tail, the ship measures 16" with a wingspan of 10". It's cruising over the city of Theed having just left it's hangar on its way into battle. Below, a miniature version of another Starfighter can be seen leaving the hangar as well. The city below sits atop a Walnut cliff which has been textured and covered in greenery to resemble the actual cliffs from this scene. The buildings sit on a foundation of Cherry and are themselves carved from Sapele. The rooves of each structure are covered with a dyed veneer. The river running through the city leading to a waterfall and another river below is poured from blue resin and has been textured with a clear Mod Podge to give the illusion of running water. The base itself has a footprint of 12"x10" and the entire piece has a total height of 10".
Artist's Note: Of all the ships and bases I've made, this one probably contains the most "beauty" likely attributable to the high level of detail that is contained in every square inch!
